Under the Workforce Investment
Act, GICV, through the PA CareerLink,
Cambria County helps adults to update their
basic skills to pursue
postsecondary education, to better prepare for
specific employment opportunities, or to study
for the GED test.
Pennsylvania-certified teachers from the Greater
Johnstown Career and Technology Center provide instruction at the PA CareerLink,
Cambria County. This service is by appointment only. Adults can take classes at
their own paces.

Adult Employment and Training Services
Under
the Workforce Investment Act, GICV,
through the
PA CareerLink Cambria County conducts a preliminary assessment of job seekers' skill levels,
aptitudes, abilities, and support service needs;
provides information on a full array of
employment-related services including
information about local education and training
service provider; verifies eligibility for
on-the-job training and other programs; provides
job search, placement assistance, and career
counseling;
Enables access to up-to-date labor market information;
and offers information about local, regional, and national employment trends.

PA WORKWEAR
GICV enables
individuals in Bedford, Cambria, and Huntingdon counties to
confidently pursue employment “dressed for
success” through PA WORKWEAR—a program of the
Pennsylvania Department of Welfare.
Through PA WORKWEAR, GICV promotes independence
to job seekers by providing the proper attire
they need for job training, interviews, and
their first days at their new jobs.
